install T42 DVD drive in a desktop PC?

#1 Post by ginahoy » Wed Jul 19, 2017 11:20 pm

I'm building a new desktop PC. I'd like to temporarily install the IBM DVD I scavenged from my decommissioned T42 (FRU 39T2675, Hitatchi model # GCC-4242N-R4). I already have a nice optical drive in my current desktop that I will eventually move to the new system. Is there any inexpensive hardware/cables for this?

Not sure there are, and if there are, it will be faster, and probably cheaper to just get a desktop DVD drive. Will perform better to. T4x DVD drives are awful.

Yup, looks like that would work. Thanks.
