Yes, that RAM is fine. Just note, even though it is PC2700 RAM, chipset limitations reduce the speed to PC2100 but otherwise will be detected correctly and work fine. FYI, just about any stick of Non-ECC DDR SODIMM will work in a T4x.

Just Google for "Thinkpad T41 RAM specs"

And also google for "Thinkpad T41 RAM upgrade"

A preliminary Google search shows a "PC2700" RAM.

Anyone with T41 model with RAM upgrade experience?

Well I have experience with T42 model RAM upgrade, but it is completely the same thing. It is very simple, one is in the base door, one is inside the keyboard. Put 2 reputable brands of 1GB DDR stick in, it should work out of the box. If not, try to reverse the slots they go in. It's recommended that they match, but if they don't, not much compromise will be noticed since R52/T43/p is the first model to have dual channel with its DDR2 sticks.
From what I experience, the maximum configuration of DDR (1GB) and PC133 SDRAM (512mb) sticks are pretty prone to errors, so do make sure to run memtest86 or at least windows memory diagnostic to see.

I bought three of these for my three ThinkPads (T41 and 2 T42s) in 2014 and 2016. I paid more in 2014 but the $10.00 price in 2016 is still the same today and it includes 'free shipping' from the seller ... no Amazon mininum order. The RAM seems OK, haven't noticed anything unusual.

... just to add, I never got the 'free Anti-Static Gloves' ... I inquired about the gloves but they said they were out of stock temporary. I went ahead and carefully installed the RAM without them. So you may get 'free gloves' or not. They have not changed their ad but somehow I had the impression they never did send any free gloves out ... don't know.

The "free gloves" are just for luring in some clueless suckers...
You don't buy unknown RAM if you know what's good for you.
You go for the likes of Elpida, Hynix, Samsung, Micron/Crucial etc.

And if you do fall into this trap, make sure to run Memtest!

You bet we do! I've got an entire 10x14 envelope filled overflowing with DDR RAM sticks. Only problem is that its all DIMMs not SODIMMs :( . Hacksaw time?

I really didn't know this forum very much till I had fan replacement problems last November. It was in August that I bought my last Ram ... but I did check out the company, Arch Memory in Google. The Ram is supposed to have a lifetime warranty and was 'new' but was sold by sellers at Amazon.

Probably would have bought from someone here but Arch Memory seems OK unless someone here knows about Arch Memory. I have bought from Crucial many years before for a Dell Latitude but as I remember for the ThinkPad, Crucial only had 2 GB sticks or only 512 MB ... they didn't have a 1 GB for sale, at least that's what I seem to remember.

Have people here heard of this company or RAM ?

I have T42 with 512 amount of ram (2x256Mb). I bought new 2x1Gb ram produced by Hynix (PC2700) put they in to laptop and have problem now. System (Windows XP) often hang after about 5-10 mins. If i use 1256Mb (1Gb+256Mb) all fine. I tested all memoryes (1gb and 1Gb separate) by mem test, no problem in test! Why laptop with 2Gb is hanging?

1. clean the contacts and swap the order of the two sticks
2. put a fresh copy of OS on a spare hdd, see if anything changes
3. unlikely to cause this to happen, but you may have a issue from motherboard flexing

The T40-T42 need PC2100 SDRAM.
PC2700 might work, but will only run at PC2100 speed.
And XP doesn't always like much more than 1GB of RAM, so that could be your problem.

Incorrect. If you see e.g. the T4x/p HMM, you will learn the following facts about RAM in T4x/p's:
Standard memory, T40/T40p series: DDR SDRAM SO-DIMM (PC2100)
Standard memory, T41/T41p, T42/T42p series: DDR SDRAM SO-DIMM (PC2700)

T42/p's will run with both 266 and 333 MHz SO DIMM RAM (see e.g. http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/rep_ca ... index.html)

Try Google for e.g. "T42 RAM site:forum.thinkpads.com" and you will be eduacated.

I have been using a pair of 1 GB (i.e. in total 2 GB) Crucial CT12864X335 (1GB 200-pin SODIMM DDR PC2700, unbuffered, non-ECC, DDR333, 2.5 V, CL2.5) in many T42/p's for 10+ years, with no issues ever, neither under XP, nor under Windows 7.

I have observed this type of behaviour on a couple of systems from this era, but have never really found the answer to the question that you're asking.

Do you have the latest BIOS installed? I believe that it's 3.23 for these machines.
