T43 fan behavior, is it normal?

#1 Post by Navck » Sun Jun 19, 2005 3:04 pm

Well, if I start up, I get the "Fan runs at maximum speed, then slows down, and speeds up", untill I finnally get into windows. Now if I idled or used minimal processing power, the fan stops completely. But after a while, it will spin to maximum power, then slow down to a mediumish noise level.
Anyone know why?

The fan starting up on boot is normal (the system board is testing the fan to make sure it works).

As for the continuous fan noise, do a search for 'fan noise'... I have complained about this noise and written about it quite extensively :)
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

Well the fan going from a high RPM then lowering isn't too bad. But the medium noise is worse than my desktop which is right below me... *With 6 80mm casefans, And videocard heatsink*
That measure ment was also taken from the same distance...
