T43p 15/60GB/2.13/2GB/

So I finally got what I've been waiting for since the end of April, my new brand new, shiny Thinkpad. Having configured it for about a day now, it's almost up and running 8) . I must say, however, that I was expecting more on the speed. My previous A30 with 1Ghz, 512 and the 1400x1050 is doesn't seem to be as slow compared to this as I was expecting. Well, we'll see after using it for a while. Everything is working fine and I am happy with it. From a financial point of view, I should have stuck with my old A30. It's ridiculous to spend so much on a machine that will be old fashioned already in a couple of months.

I'd second that, but congrats on your new computer!

Well, every day tasks such as web browsing, office applications, most programming, etc won't really stress either machine. It's a great time from the stand point of protecting your investment though - can get off the every 18 month upgrade treadmill for a while. :) Hardware is way out in front of software - there is no compelling application that requires the hardware you just purchased (for the average user).

But you have a great machine and I'll last a long time so I wouldn't sweat it at all. You'll get a lot more life out of that machine than one bought, say 5 years ago.
