How do I create a BEER sector on replacement T40 hard drive?

#1 Post by kkapoor » Tue Jun 21, 2005 10:03 pm

Hi,

I need to create a BEER sector on a replacement hard drive for my T40. I can not install the predesktop area on the replacement drive without this sector on my drive.

Any ideas on how to do this. I believe BEER is the acronym for Boot Engineering Extension Record.

Google search did not result in a tool or anything that I could run on a floppy to create this sector.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

All you need to do to recreate the Predesktop Area is to boot from Recovery CDs with a blank (non-partitioned) hard drive installed. The recovery program will ask you if you want to recreate the hidden partition area.

I tried that. However the recovery disks would not install the predesktop area . I constantly got the error that the discs could not read the BEER sector and then the computer would reboot automatically.
