Small hex screw w/T43 - purpose and how to use ?

#1 Post by Raj » Wed Jun 22, 2005 12:21 pm

Hi,

In the package that came with my new T43 2668-G7U, there is a small hex screw included - part number 91P8567.

What is its purpose ? And how do I use it ?

Any info is appreciated.
Thanks,
Raj

It goes on the bottom to lock in the DVD drive...you can put it in if you want, or leave it out if you tend to swap UltraBay devices regularly.

You can replace the "coin screw" with it. (the one that holds the hard drive in place.) This would make it more difficult to remove the HD.

Note: there is a chance it is to hold the optical drive in place- can't remember..

Aah, I see the little screw hole under the optical drive - I put the screw in now.

Thanks very much!

Yup, mine also came in a tiny ziploc bag inside the bag with the service guide book.

Scorpiontico, I dont know why they didnt put one in your package, but when I was looking up this screw in Google, I came across this site (http://www.trackcap.com/) where they sell the screw for $0.99. Apparently it is a new product.

You could ask your IBM/Lenovo rep to send you one too...

Wow. Could you make a bigger issue out of something so small? I'm sure if you called tech support and KINDLY explained that you're missing the screw, they'd be happy to mail it to you. Actually, they'll probably send you the whole screw kit, which contains every screw on your laptop, so you'll have spares if you ever need them.

In any respect, if you ever change out your UltraBay devices you won't want the screw in there. I almost wonder if they send it for companies to install to make it a little more difficult for employees to take out drive bays?
