Flash the modded BIOS? T40

#1 Post by gruzdev » Wed Jan 17, 2018 1:13 am

I downloaded a modified BIOS on the Internet, in which a bug with wifi was fixed.
But there is only the image of the BIOS in the bundle, without the program for flashing.
T42-SLIC2.1_7U_no_1802.rar https://www.sendspace.com/file/j2ekci
I tried to use the program from the latest version of the official BIOS, replacing the image files with renaming, but the program said that there is no need to update the BIOS.

have any ideas how to flash this BIOS?

PS
I know about the startup disk that temporarily evaporates the 1802 error.

You cannot just copy a file onto a CD.
You need a program from e.g. http://www.imgburn.com/
Unpack the .iso from that .rar, then use Imgburn to make the CD from that .iso.
Remove the error-giving wifi-card before you flash.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

This is not a disk image, it's an image of the firmware.
in the archive is the file: T42-SLIC2.1_7U_no_1802.ROM
but I do not know how to flash it.

4uk4a right. Prepare DOS USB Flash with Rufus software, copy files from archive, boot from flash and run flash.bat

there are 2 ways
1. use the boot disk and disable the scan temporarily (until you reset the BIOS to the default settings) https://command-tab.com/2006/02/26/thin ... t-page-11/
the first way is simple and safe.
2. flash the mod BIOS on a permanent basis
at one's own risk

I did it!

Went Gung ho and made a do's usb drive with Rufus and copied the files linked to earlier, booted, hit enter and it did it! Now have the Phillips wifi card it came with (and didn't boot with) and a 1.8ghz processor I bought fitted and it's very happy indeed!

Thanks all
