Can you use a 1.8" PATA drive in a T43

#1 Post by catback » Wed Jan 17, 2018 9:02 pm

I have a T43 that I'm trying to get up and running. It needs a new hard drive that I've ordered but will take some time to get here. I have an X40 here that doesn't work but does have a working Kingspec 1.8" PATA SSD model KSD-PA18.6-032MS. Can this be installed in the T43? They both have a 44 pin IDE interface so I think it will fit physically but I'm not sure if there are other parameters like a lower power requirement since it's a 1.8" drive that will not make it compatible with the T43.

Drives for the X40 run at 3.3v IIRC, while regular PATA drives run at 5v. If you install that Kingspec SSD, the T43 might fry it.
