T43 + video drivers under Windows 7

#1 Post by SailingAway » Fri Jan 19, 2018 2:53 pm

Hi,

I have a T43 2668-4DU with the ATI X300 and 1400x1050 screen. I installed Windows 7 which initially installed generic drivers for the display adapter. I then downloaded and installed the Vista drivers from Lenovo's site, which seemed to have worked as Device Manager now correctly lists the display adapter as ATI X300. Problem is, I'm unable to set the screen resolution any higher than 1024x768. A few questions.

-Are the standard Vista drivers from Lenovo's site to be used or is there a modified version of these drivers?

-When running the Vista driver installer, should I run it in Vista compatibility mode or does it not matter?

-I noticed Lenovo also has available XP video drivers which have a more recent date. Should these be used instead?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

XP drivers will crash in 7 and won't support Aero.

Use the Vista driver. Really lucky that Sonoma chipset supports Vista. That means it supports 7 because 7 is Vista.

This does not mean something like a Pentium iii or PM 7x5 cpu will crash in Vista. In fact, they run Vista SP2 perfectly.
But yes, use the Vista driver provided in this forum's Drivers link or think.lenovo.com.cn
It works with x86 Vista - Windows 10
