Windows CD volume control has no effect on my T43?

I was playing an Audio CD on my T43, and decided to mess around with the Windows volume control. I found that I could effect the volume of the CD by playing with the master volume level, but the CD volume slider had absolutely no effect. Even setting it all the way down didn't lower the music at all. What's the deal?

If I remember right, the CD volume control is for analog only (usually when you have a separate cable from the CD drive to the sound card). If you are using CD digital sound, the CD volume control has no effect.
