Warranty on DVD Burners for Thinkpad T-43?

#1 Post by baldyguy » Sun Jun 26, 2005 11:22 am

How does the warranty process work for a DVD Burner that doesn't work anymore in a Thinkpad T43? The reason why I'm asking is that I got multiburner and it work fine for a couple of months and it's no longer working. I mean i hardly use my laptop, and i'm pretty computer savvy. Just wondering how the warranty works...

It seems obvious ... call thinkpad support?
If the dvd drive came with the thinkpad then it's covered under the thinkpad warranty.

I know that you have to call them but do you have to send them the broken one or do they send you a new one?

How its always worked for me: They send you the new one, and you send back the old one in the box they sent the new one in. You have to give them a credit card because if they don't receive the old one within 30 days they will charge you for the new one.

Similar here. IBM always send me a replacement with a prepaid return shipping label. Call DHL for pickup and they will take it from there.

I have never been asked for a credit card number though.
