Hard disk in Ultra Bay slim

#1 Post by john 86 » Wed Jun 29, 2005 5:53 am

I received today the hard disc adapter for the Ultra by slim docking bay. I have an old hard disk from an Apple Macintosh that I want to try before installing a more substantial hard disk.
Is there a way of getting this to work without a floppy disk reader. A friend copied the floppy onto a CD I haven't had any luck getting the computer to recognise the hard drive.
Cheers John

The Floppy disk contains EZ Gig - it is not needed unless you want to transfer the contents of your main hdd to the one in the second hdd adapter (like a ghosting tool).

With Windows 2000/XP you put the hdd in the adapter and put it in the slot then it should be recognised. Enter the BIOS and go the Startup sequence to verify 2 hdds are listed - if not then there is a hardware problem with the drive or the adapter.

If in the BIOS, right click on My Computer within Windows and choose Manage. Click on Disk Management and hopefully you can see the second hdd there - you may need to right click on the drive and initialise/create partitions/format before it is usable.

Thanks John
