External USB Audio or PCMCIA Card

#1 Post by hotwheels » Fri Jul 01, 2005 10:20 am

I am adding some external speakers for music listening while I have my T42 in a mini dock II. I want to get good quality listening audio while the machine is docked using Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers.

Does anyone have experience comparing the audio quality of a PCMCIA card such as the Indigo or Audigy with an external USB sound card such as the Creative or others that work for a 2.1 system?

Thanks

I bought some of the Klipsch 2.1s at Best Buy and returned them after they were DOA. I do have some of the HK Soundsticks II I picked up at Costco. I am going to use them until I can pick up some Powered Studio Monitors.

People seem to rave about the Swan M200s for computer audio and there are some using other powered studio monitors such as those by Alesis, Fostex, M-Audio, KRK and others. These seem to be 200-500+ solutions for speakers that do not take up too much desktop room.

Depending on the sound, it may be that an Indido PCMCIA sound card or one of the various USB solutions such as M-Audio Transit, Edirol USB, or a host of others. I am not sure if the PCMCIA option is any better or worse than the USB option, but I may need to try both.

Between some decent powered monitors and one of the add-on sound card options, this may bve my best bet to getting better quality listening for music.

Anyone tried any of these options for monitors or cards?

Id like to know if anyone has any experience replacing/upgrading the internal speakers on a t-series..there seems to be a little bit of room down there when you pull out the soundbar...would love to know if someone knows where you can get upgrading speakers or makes a better panel...Z

Thanks for the Link Sugo. Tried Hydrogenaudio, Audioholics, HardForum, AVS, and a few others, but HeadFi looks perfect. Thanks again!
