When wifi works but doesn't work?

#1 Post by Raptornet » Mon Apr 15, 2019 9:04 am

Ever since I restored my T42 there's been something just a little bit iffy about the Atheros wifi card inside it. Like how connecting to a new hotspot often results in a perpetual "acquiring IP", until eventually failing with a limited to no connectivity icon. On to connect fine after a reboot. How I've never been able to perform a "ipconfig /flushdns" because windows will come back and tell me the device isn't working properly.

I don't dont whether this is a driver issue or the card just being well....rubbish. Has anyone else run in to this issue? I'm giving serious thought to buying myself a new old intelPro wifi card. Something that'll give me less hassle and connect to my phones hotspot without a tantrum.

Details of the card, pulled from HWinfo32:

Atheros / Qualcomm 802.11abg Wireless Lan Mini-pci

What exact wifi-card? (Model, P/N, FRU etc.)
The best for the T42 is probably an Intel 2200BG.
Or go bold and put in wifi-N with a TP-LINK TL-WN861N 300Mbps card
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
