Panel manufacturer?

#1 Post by wiesl » Sat Jul 02, 2005 10:54 am

Hello!

Does anyone know the panel manufacturer of the 1024x768, 1400x1050 and 1600x1200 resolution.

Thank you for the answer.

No way to answer that question, but I can give you some information.

IBM/Lenovo uses a variety of LCD panels for each resolution.

If you have already received a Thinkpad, and have a serial number, you can pull up which panel it is.

If you are thinking about buying a particular T series model, you can see which panels may come with it.

Usually, there are two possible panel manufacturers for each model, not always.

With any big notebook manufacturer, they can not depend on a single source for any critical part.
Several LCD suppliers are qualified for each model. That way, if one supplier can not meet demand, a quick switch can be made to another.

If this were not the practice, the entire production line would be shut down because one part was not available.

This is standard practice for the entire electronics industry.

Anyhow, there are Samsung panels, Hydis, and a bunch of others.
