You are not the only ones having problems with your wireless. I suggest everyone with the Intel 2915 do a test in the PC-Doctor utlity on the pre-desktop area. Run the interactive test. If it fails to start the wireless, I suggest that you ask IBM...
(And if possible, sticky this? Apparently its not only me now...)

By any chance everyone, is your machine a 2687Dxx (Replace xx with current number/letter you have)

It took intel like 6+ months to figure out how the driver for 2200bg was supposed to work :)

Not sure if it has been posted. It seems Intel has a new driver out on 6/28.

It has a new killer feature by the way

Improved connection stability

While that is useful, my wireless card is 100% inoperatable/99% inoperatable (Connects, lasts for 2 seconds, loses connection. Doesn't connect again, further attempts futile)

I had various connection/reconnection problems with 2000bg with 9.0.1.21. I just did the upgrade to 9.0.2.10 :D without any problems and it seems all problems are gone. :D

In times like this, is it better to wait until IBM releases their own driver based on this version before upgrading or will Software Installer automatically compensate for it?

I'm able to start it with IBM Access Connections and (new) with Intel PROSet/Wireless which is redirected to IBM's Profilename IBMAccConnPrf.

Since I installed it I had no blackout at all.

Hrm... I guess it is. I checked pciids.sf.net, but they apparently haven't listed it yet. I haven't setup linux to use lspci since I can't come up with a name for it, so here's the device instance id from windows:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4224&SUBSYS_10108086&REV_05\4&AD1B67F&0&10F0

Can't turn on wireless radio

#17 Post by koolzero » Wed Feb 15, 2006 2:42 pm

I have a manager with a T43p who was able to use wireless yesterday but today it stopped working. He has the most current driver and the most current thinkvantage access connection software 4.11a.

It won't allow the connection to turn on. Any suggestions?
