Better than it would be on other models - it basically should direct the liquid down through holes in the bottom - don't think it will work so well with sugary drinks as it would with water as the stickyness may still affect the keys.

In summary - don't go trying it out but it might help if your have a mishap.

Wish I'd have had one when I spilled that glass of Jack Daniels into my Dell Inspiron. Blew the mother board (at least that's what the Geek Squad said). Boards can withstand water, but not when they're electrified. The spill resistant keyboard is one of the top reasons for me going Thinkpad.

Yes. T42 has it.

I would call it spill resistant rather than spill proof. You really don't want to test it out.

That sounds like a crappy afternoon, a friend motherboard and a spilled glass of jack.

some laptops have a sealed keyboard, like the Dell X1 from what I understand.

Regardless it's a handy feature but not one you really want to be testing!
X31, T43p (on sale soon I think :( ), T400

*cough* best thing for a DELL notebook *cough*

One of the IBM execs was doing a presentation for the press and he tip a bottle of water over the X41 and then continued his powerpoint presentation with it - i think that took a bit of guts even with the spill resistance.
