Toshiba/askey mini-pci wireless g in T23?

#1 Post by Way » Tue Jul 05, 2005 5:15 am

Is anyone aware of this adapter and if so could I use it in my t23 2647-4mu.I believe I need a particular bios hack for non ibm cards as well as install a internal antenae(preferably under the keyboard).

Atheros/Askey Part # WLL3070D4 MOW Toshiba part # PA3373U-1MPC

A photo of the card shows a atheros ar5213a-00 chip.Is this super g (108mbps)compatable with my Di-624?

Any and all help is truly apreciated.

You won't need the bios hack for a T-23 (I think it's T30 and above than need it).

For nice under-keyboard antennas, look here: http://store.mrtechus.com/acnoan.html

Can't say for sure. If the chipset is using the Atheros AR5002G, that's spec'd as SuperG by Atheros. http://customerproducts.atheros.com/cus ... eBasic.asp.

I can get superG with a 3Com card that uses the Atheros AR5001+ chip, which Atheros doesn't even designate as SuperG in its tables, so I don't see why you wouldn't have a problem with the DI-624 (which uses the Atheros chipset).

Thankyou for the info.Could you post some maximimum and average transfer rates with superg enabled.I have actually considered using the Atheros mini pci card in my di-624rev.b and just upgrade my router.Do you have any advice on this. I really would like to know is if Atheros is above average and is superg worth it?

I was thinking of ditching the minipci 56k modem for a minipci wireless card. I want 802.11G, not the B that was available as a combo card.

Does anyone have a how to on installing the antennas and suggestions on where the best place to put them is?

Also I read on here that the Intel cards work on T23's, is that what people would recommend or should I look something different?

I messed with putting antennas into a T22 and had under keyboard antennas for a while. I ended up with a 3Com Xjack superG card that retracts when not used, costs about the same as a minipci card and antennas to go under the keyboard. Reception is about the same. I'd go the xJack route if I were you. I say this having been totally attached to internal wifi in the beginning.... Search for posts with my user name & you'll find some info onthis.
