A/C Power

#1 Post by Peter Linu » Thu Sep 26, 2019 2:19 am

I loaned a friend (!!!) a T440p. He returned it today. I plugged it into the A/C and started a download. I returned later to find the battery totally drained even to the extent of not being able to get into the bios.
I had a fresh replacement battery from another machine which I used to get into the bios. Everything LOOKS normal.

How do I activate the A/C?

Cheers,
Peter Linu

What happens if you remove battery and start with only AC?
Tried another charger, just in case (if dGPU at least 90W)?
Lovely day for a Guinness! (the Real Black Stuff). And pigs CAN fly!

Just got home.
Removed battery. It works on A/C however the icon in the tray (Win7) says:"No battery is detected". How do I get them back to normal that is, recharging a battery with A/C?

Apparently your battery is (almost) dead.
Keep the laptop on (while on AC), then insert the battery.
If it stays on, let it sit like that for an hour, then check the battery 'level/status/charge' if any.
If it has started charging, leave it running overnight.
If nothing happened, take it out and get another battery.

Had a lightbulb moment. I used a different charger...that works perfectly. Obviously I am returning the faulty one.
