speaker quality

#1 Post by aamadi » Wed Jul 06, 2005 10:48 am

I realize that I am not going to get stereo sound with the T43's speakers. However if I get a T43 14" SVGA, how good would it be for watching DVDs? Will it be sufficient, or would I definately need external speakers? Thanks for your help in advance.

you will get a sufficient sound to understand the movie but not to enjoy the sound quality. You have 2 speakers on the thinkpad but there are so near that you won't notice any stereo effects. Summary : thinkpad speakers are for hearing sound but not for listening to music. I find anyway that they are quite good given their size ;-)

I have to differ slightly... I came from a CL56 and its speakers absolutely blew chunks. Having had the T43 - I was actually very impressed with the speaker quality and would often listen to internet radio.. and other times movies' sound were very nice. I could feel a little bass compared to the CL56 that had none whatsoever.

I recently worked on a Toshiba Satellite M45. Although It's speakers are superior to those on the T43 in terms of base and fullness of sound, I was surprised at how little volume they actually put out. The T43's speakers are often criticized in reviews due to their lack of volume, but the speakers on the M45 were only slightly louder with everything cranked up to full.

I have a T23 not a T43 but if you are at normal working distance from your machine (e.g. listening to music while you work) you will get stereo. Actually, considering the size of the speakers, they are pretty good but a pair of headphones of good quality will give you excellent quality. I run a line from the headphone jack to a line in on my stereo for quality sound when working at my desk or if I want good sound from a movie. Almost not worth bothering for a mystery. :-)

Earphones. The T speakers are adequate, but it's certainly not enjoyable. Earphones in this instance are, however, great.

I have been using a T40/t42/T43, speaker sound is not good compare with other brands like Toshiba/Dell. Openup the T4X case & you will see why. The speakers are too small.

best way is to connect to a powered desktop mini speaker system, price can range from US10-200, chose one that u like, and u can afford.

In my Study Room, the stereos on the T43 have been pretty good and give good acoustics; for work outside, library, or anywhere else I usually go with some earphones. Some good Sony earbuds or Desktop Speakers also work good too. :)

i must say that my T42's speakers isnt that gd....

initially, i feel that it was decent as compared to most speakers.. however, when i listened to those laptops with Harmon Kardon and Altec Lansing speakers, i found that the T42's were found wanting.

hence i invested in a pair of Cambridge Soundworks 250D and all my frens were 'WoWed'...

and when my roommate is slping, i'll use my stock Apple iPod's earphones and its pretty decent...

My previous laptop was an extremely cheap Compaq 732US--junk, really. However, my T41's speakers are grossly inferior: so bad, relatively, that it's ridiculous. I guess IBMs really are business computers. I use headphones with mine anytime I'm listening to music. It' not the end of the world.

I bought some Altec Lansing 120i 's; AC-powered desktop speakers (about $15 new at OfficeMax) that work pretty well with my T-42. They are well shielded and do not buzz when I make a cell phone call like my Creative Lab external speakers did. The sound quality is quite good, but realize these are $15 speakers.
