Slow resume after opening lid?
Slow resume after opening lid?
I have my computer set to do nothing when I close the lid. The longer I leave the lid closed, the longer it takes for the screen to turn back on. Say I close my lid for a couple minutes. When I open the lid again, it will take maybe 7 or 8 seconds before the screen will turn back on. I could swear that the screen turned on a lot quicker when the laptop was new with a fresh install of windows. Am I being overly critical of this situation, or has anybody had experience with their screens turning on slower?
BTW, when I turn off the screen with fn+f3, the screen turns up pretty much instantly when I hit a key. So the actual problem is linked with the lid closing.

Yes, yes, yes. It has gotten progressively worse on my T42p. There was a thread a while back about it possibly being a service or something running amok, but I don't remember a real resolution. Mine can take 20+ seconds sometimes now - it is really crazy. If you find a solution, I'll jump for joy. I'm just about due to reformat my machine anyway, but I'd like to know how to prevent this from happening again.

I have the exact same problem. When I resume from sleep mode I can hear the fan start up but the mouse adapter in my USB drive doesn't turn on. Very slowly lights will begin to light up although I am often left waiting for the monitor to get with the program. It's a long, frustrating wait. These days I just turn the system off because startup is a lot faster than waking up from sleep-mode on this laptop.
Sometimes it resumes quickly, sometimes it takes forever. I haven't had a chance to find out why but it sucks.
