Since the Omega Drivers freeze when I check the real-time status of IBM's Active Protection display, I decided to stick with the IBM Drivers for compatibility reasons. Beisdes, performance was better anyways (ill do a test of the omegas with 3dmark05 sometime....)

My thinkpad cpu temp got up to 85C :? when it was running 3dmark05. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Ran the benchmark also, on my T42 (1.8GHz) with 512MB of RAM, at default clocks and with Catalyst drivers I got 9174.
With 350/235 clocks I got 9888.
I think that with another stick of 512MB of RAM the score might just be at 11K
Written behind a T42, 2373-9UG.
1.8GHz CPU, 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD, ATI-MR9600 64MB GPU, SXGA+ LCD, a/b/g WiFi, CD-RW/DVD

3DMark 2001SE run by hitting the "benchmark" button:

- ATI 5.7 drivers, download from ati for desktop, then modded with "modtool by patje"

Bit late but my t42p:

11xx marks with omega drivers

clocked @ 370 core and 240 mem (could easily go more)

Temps CPU: 65c max GPU 64c Max

I'm happy :)
