Kingmax RAM (from newegg) install

#1 Post by amphibiac » Thu Jul 07, 2005 10:50 pm

I wanted to give an update to this thread, and report that the Kingmax ram posted at newegg, and recommended by simscitizen, works well in my T42 2378. I went from 512 total RAM to 2048MB, and so far, no problems. Installation was a breeze, thanks to the IBM installation videos (see FAQ).

I am experimenting with running no pagefile right now, and will report back any (anecdotal) findings. For starters, I noticed that Windows boots faster, comes out of Standby more quickly, and is overall a bit more responsive. I frequently (daily) use Alias Sketchpad Pro, while running iTunes, Firefox, and about a dozen background tasks. Hopefully, I will be able to run Photoshop as well, now, and alt-tab between them smoothly.

Amph.

Excellent! I'd definately be interested in hearing the results over time of having turned off the page file as I've considered doing that as well. :)

I've been contemplating shutting it off on my T43p now that it has 2gb in it too. But right now I'm not in the mood and it's sitting in front of me turned off.
X31, T43p (on sale soon I think :( ), T400
