T42, how to "open" the fan?
T42, how to "open" the fan?
So, it seems like I may need to clean out, as well as lubricate the fan in my T42.
I am not sure how to do this, I googled it but nothing came up.
I don't see any screws or anything, and the fan is "inside" of the heat sink itself, not a separate component, so I will need to take the heat sink partially apart as well I guess. So how do I take apart the heat sink and the fan, in order to do the cleaning and lubrication?

Re: T42, how to "open" the fan?
^ thank you, that is interesting, I may try that, if needed.
However, that doesn't tell me how to actually "open up" the heat sink/fan assembly, in order to clean and lubricate it, or even to drill such a hole. That is what I am looking for. I don't want to ruin my only current fan for my working T42.

Ah great.
I will wait to do this though, until I have a spare fan/heat sink, just in case something goes wrong.

If you don't have a dremmel, carefully prying near the joints can separate them as well, but you need to be careful not to bend the copper too much.
