How many ppl have dead pixels

#1 Post by climbingrose » Sat Jul 09, 2005 8:27 pm

Do you have dead pixels on your TP? I own a T40 and T43 and both have dead pixels. A bit dispointed. What about you?

I used PixelBuddy and have none on my TP. However, I have heard that people who got dead pixel, all they have to do is called Lenovo and order another one. If you've paid a lot for the TP's, I don't see why you want to keep the imperfect one?

I have a stuck red and semi-stuck blue pixel on my T40, both in the lower left hand part of the display. I have sort of forgotten about them since I don't use this machine for multimedia stuff.

Thanks Bill!

Well, it seems that not many ppl have dead pixels on their LCD. How poor am I :(? I bought my laptop through Australia EPP and the term & condition on their website saying no return: "Products cannot be returned to IBM except under normal warranty conditions".

Wouldn't dead pixels be a "normal warranty condition. Contact them. Rememer that IBM/Lenovo are known for their excellent support and customer service. They don't want unhappy customers. :)

The thing is my TP only has one dead pixel while IBM/Lenovo policy requires 8 dead pixels for warranty.

One red dead pixel lower right of screen. Unless it's against a black backdrop I would not notice it. With the SXGA+ the pixel is very small, so that's a good thing as well.

No dead pixels on my new T43 (thank god, I'm anal as hell). I do have a "dark" pixel on the right edge of my screen, it displays colors fine, but just a little darker than the others. I guess I can't be too picky.

I don't have a dead pixels. If I had I would have returned the laptop during the 30 days trial period. I told the sales rep. that this is what going to happen if there are any dead pixels.

But there are a couple of software bugs that appear as dead pixels, check that it isn't one of these:
A. Something with the trackpoint software/driver causing "dead pixels" which disappear when the middle button is clicked.
B. Something with the graphics software/driver causing the pixel at the upper left corner to display the wrong color. This bug is referred to as the (0,0) bug. I have this bug, and the wrong color goes away when I log off. It may then reappear... or not. You can also see that it is a wrong color and not a stuck color when you check it with an LCD test software.

I had a dead or stuck pixel, im not sure which one. I looked around for ideas on how to fix one if possible on the internet, and it said that some people can 'reset' their pixels by firmly rubbing the area of the LCD with cotton, or other soft material. I tried it, and it worked! holy cow.. right?! I was going to return my otherwise perfect t43p, so i do empathize with those who have stuck pixels. I also prayed (i know that sounds pretty dumb) but who knows, maybe I had divine intervention.

No dead pixel at all on my (used refurbished) T23.

Actually, the night I obtained it, I found 3 dead pixels (all white color) on the bottom part of the screen. Rubbed it several times and they're still there.

But the day after, I cleaned both the backside (lid) and front (display) while it was turned off, and after turning the machine back on, they're gone! None at all. And now it's about a week after, those dead pixel never shows up again!

Still wondering if they were dead pixels, because it really was 3 bright and white pixels...
The Pad: T23 Pentium III 1.13Ghz, 512MB RAM, 40GB Harddrive

No glitches here, just several things that didn't made it to the stage.

T43P 2668G1U - I wasn't aware of any dead pixels, and was almost afraid to try Pixel Buddy. PB works great however, and I confirmed NO dead pixels!

Hi,

I have a T40 w/14.1" 1024x768 LCD without dead pixels.
And a T42 w/14.1" 1400x1050 LCD with 1 dead red pixel near the top border. It does not annoy me at all.
