"Slow wireless" syndrome (Wireless slows down)

#1 Post by Navck » Sun Jul 10, 2005 12:35 am

I've been havign this problem for a while, and its quite annoying on my T43
Linksys WRT54G + T43 2687DDU + Intel 2915 = Hi 24MBP/S oooorr 1 MBP/s land if I even TRY to use the internet browser (However, it goes up by its self when I idle, then goes down as soon as I do anything requiring my wireless.
PS - IBM and Linksys were unable to solve my problem 8(

Not quite sure what you are trying to say - can you be more specific and/or give more details?

Basically, when I connect to my WAP, my adapter speed = 54MBP/s
Then it drops to 36... To 24... Sometimes to 1MBP/s.
Thats if I even had my computer look at anything on the internet

I'm not sure if this will help but you might try changing the channel number in your router. If it's set on auto, set it to a specific number. Some channels can be crowded depending on your location.

Some electric devices can interfere with wireless. I don't have the complete list, but I believe it includes microwave ovens, cordless or cellular phones, and halogen lamps.

You could have an interference problem, or it could be an incompatibility problem between the Intel 2915 wireless and the Linksys WRT54G router.

I had those problems with ProSet 9. Went back to ProSet 8 and they were gone. 2200BG here.

I have a T-42 with Intel 2200BG. I use the latest IBM/Lenovo supplied drivers version 9.0.1.21 with mine, along with Access Connections version 3.71. I don't have any speed problems with my setup. I connect at home with a SMC 2804WBRP-G bg router.

Hmmm.. Well its not really interferance
Microwave -> Downstairs
Cordless phone(s) -> Other room, in 900MHz band and "90"MHz band (Brick format, xD)
Cell phones -> We never use them, they're off
Monitor -> Only CLOSEST thing to laptop....

Hmm, well 2200BG and 2915ABG work on the same drivers right?

Download the latest 9.0.2.* drivers from the intel website, many have said their problems went away after doing that, myself included (on both a 2200BG and a 2915
