T42 Integrated Bluetooth Problem

#1 Post by BJF05 » Tue Jul 12, 2005 12:58 pm

I just purchased a T42 2378-FVU thinkpad and installed a bluetooth daughter card, FRU 27R1880. Bluetooth was recognized right away with WinXP SP2. I can not get the computer to see any bluetooth devices though. I am trying to sync the computer with a HP PDA. I also tried a Bluetooth enabled phone and no success there. I have confirmed that bluetooth is working on both of the devices.

I called IBM support and they told me to follow the instructions on this URL

I installed the IBM software and I still have the same results. One thing I noticed was I cannot open My Bluetooth Places on my desktop. I can only Delete, Cut, or make a shortcut of it. Is that normal for thinkpads? Also, the bluetooth Icon in the taskbar is blue and Red, instead of being the normal blue and white.

Has anyone came across any of these problems with Bluetooth? If so, how did you solve it.

Well it took a little while longer, but I figured out what I did not do. Two things.

1) Update the bluetooth driver using IBM's unsigned driver, although I did not have to do that because Microsoft's driver will work fine. The main thing I did not do is number two.
2) Attach the bluetooth antenna to the CDC when I installed it. The antenna wire is white and has a small circular connector that did not look like it should go to anything. There is a connection for it on the bottom of the CDC.

Thank you for the input anyway GomJabbar, bluetooth works fine now.
