caps lock: on/off popup bluetooth software.

#1 Post by danhollywells » Fri Jul 15, 2005 6:40 pm

What is the deal with the caps lock and scroll lock popups that show up over the system tray. I would love to disable that. I want to run IBM bluetooth software but i can't have the popup happening when i press the caps lock key all the time. Does anyone know how to disable that.

If your thinkpad is simular to mine, you can right click on an open area of the desktop. Choose the Settings tab > Advanced > On Screen Display tab, and uncheck the On-screen display box. That should remove the popups.

It occurs to me that maybe the above is not exactly what you are describing. Something else you could do is auto-hide the taskbar. Right click on an open area of the taskbar, choose Properties and check Auto-hide the taskbar on the Taskbar tab.

I hope this helps.

It's not part of the same display component as volume or the thinklight. it's part of the bluetooth software. if the ibm bluetooth software is installed then when you press the caps lock key you can see the notification popup near the system tray. i want to have the IBM software installed but i don't want the notification popup. Or if i could get the widcomm driver installed without getting the component that included the popup that would do also.

you can fix it but changing a registry entry. the problem comes from the widcomm software.

you can easily disable the keyboard indicators by creating a .reg file with the following content, and double click on it.

---- snip ----
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BTConfig\General]
"KeyIndication"=dword:00000000
---- snip ----
