Swapping UK T42 keyboard for Swiss (105G/105F) T42 keyboard

#1 Post by teepee » Sat Jul 16, 2005 5:14 am

Hi

I think I read somewhere that it is easy to replace keyboards on the T42 and that an end user can do this without voiding the warranty. Is this correct please?

If it is correct, does anyone know the part number for the Swiss (105G or 105F - the layout is, I think, identical) T42 keyboard please? I can't find it listed at the ThinkPad website.

Thanks :-)

NBM and Chicony are the manufacturers of the keyboards. NMB is made in Thailand, and Chicony I believe is made in China. Users of this forum seem to prefer the Thai model.

FRU for swiss NMB keyb is 39T0531. Changed mine :D

You can call IBM and say you have a problem with your keyb. They will ask you if you can change it yourself. Answer yes and give them the FRU of the NMB model. Thats what I did ;)
T61p - 6457-AN6
