T43 trackpoint drifts sometimes after use---faulty? normal?

#1 Post by BoostedA4 » Sun Jul 17, 2005 5:48 pm

I have a 2668-88U T43. I disabled the touchpad and only use the trackpoint. I have noticed that sometimes after using the trackpoint when I release my finger the cursor drifts in one direction maybe an inch or two at a slow pace and then stops.

Any idea what is going on here? Do I have a faulty trackpoint or do other users experience this?

Completely normal operation. The trackpoint is just recalibrating itself. When this happens, just take your finger off of the trackpoint until the curser stops moving.

yeah, it's normal. It usually happens when you rest your finger on the trackpoint. Even though you may be barely touching it, you're still applying pressure in some direction. Because the touchpoint tries recalibrate itself every so often, it may have recalibrated itself to ignore the slight pressure. Therefore, when you let off, it'll move the cursor the opposite way for a few seconds until it recalibrates itself. Best thing to do is to remember to always lift your finger off the touchpoint when you're done pointing.
