I purchased a new IBM Thinkpad T43 1875 9DU Notebook Computer on eBay for $ 1050.
The Computer has a 1.73 Centrino CPU, 40 Gigabyte 5400 RPM IDE Disk Drive, 256 MB of RAM, 15 Inch Display Screen Resolution at 1024 x 768, and the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator.
1. I wanted to upgrade the RAM with two approved DDR-2 Memory Modules from Crucial Technology, so I first inserted one Module in the empty Memory Bay which is underneath the Computer after I had removed the Battery and the Memory Cover Plate.
I then removed the three Keyboard Mounting Screws from underneath the Computer. This model of Computer has three and not the four screws that hold the Keyboard in place.
I watched the IBM Video and printed out the Documentation on how to install the secondary RAM Upgrade which is underneath the Keyboard.
I cannot remove the Keyboard even though I am pressing down with my thumb or finger on the tab location which is in front at a slight angle in front of the power button.
The Keyboard will not move at all at the upwards angle which would then allow me to remove the cable connector and then remove the Keyboard.
What am I doing wrong and how do I safely remove the Keyboard so I can install the seconf Memory Upgrade which is underneath the Keyboard?
2. I have noticed that the 15 Inch Display Screen is not as bright and text fonts are not as sharp as ones on the IBM T22 Computer's 14.1 Display Screen.
I am running at 1024 x 768 Resolution True Color with the large fonts at 120 DPI.
Also the Screen Display veiwing angles is not as great as the T22 Computer's 14.1 Inch Display Screen.
You have to look directly at the screen to see the brightest image, and when you look down at the screen at a slight angle it becomes darker.
The viewing angles on the T22's Screen are better.
Is due to the 15 Inch Screen construction?
Does the lack of a dedicated Graphics Card affect the Display Screen and the text quality?
3. The T43 Computer has a 40 Gigabyte IDE Disk Drive and if I purchase a 100 Gigabyte IDE Disk Drive will the T43 Computer's BIOS support it?
If I use Symantec Norton Ghost 9.0 can I ghost the complete 40 Gigabyte Disk Drive System Image including the IBM Hidden System Partition to an external Drive inside of a USB Casing and then after the Ghost Process is donw to then insert the Drive itself into the T43 Computer?
Thank You.
Jonathan
