Did the chipset driver update from intel work for you?

I tried infinst_autol.exe (update the chipset drivers or something like that) and a few other goodies from intel. As a result my computer ran hot. I solved the heat problem with a system restore. Now I wonder if it is intel's infinst_autol.exe that updated the chipset drivers, that caused the heat, or maybe one of the other goodies. What is your experience with the chipset driver update?
