14.1" compared to a 15" screen?

#1 Post by milesrbruce » Tue Jul 19, 2005 4:30 pm

Can anyone tell me the weight and size difference of the 14.1" screen compared to a 15"

I have a 14" T41 that I LOVE and am purchasing a t42 with a 15". My concern is the weight and size, is the 15" that much bigger?

Aany onput would be appreciated.

Well you can look up the specs online, I don't know the overall dimensions but I know it's about .2" thicker and weighs about a pound more. That said its still a very slender machine with a good weight that's also well balanced. I wanted the 14" originally but got a better deal on the 15 and don't regret it.

I have the 15" screen. I don't carry it every day and carry it in a backpack when I do so the extra weight isn't much of an issue. I also have the SXGA+ screen. For me personally SXGA on the 14" would be be too small. If they had a resolution between XGA and SXGA, I would have gotten that. I think the 14" TP is the perfect size/weight for a laptop. Good Luck.

On the IBM webpage, it shows that most of the 15" screen laptops come with "Flex view wide viewing angle" example: 266892U, while the 14" dont show the feature ex: 266872U. Can someone confirm this? Does flexview really make a difference?

Yes, I'd say the flexview makes quite a difference in viewing angle. This isn't something most people probably care about with a laptop since you're usually sitting in front of it but there have been times I've appreciated the difference.

I thought some 14s came with a flexview scree? maybe not.
