Will T41p take a 100 gig drive?

#1 Post by hotwheels » Tue Jul 19, 2005 8:20 pm

I called IBM today to check about installing a 100gig drive in a T41P. They indicated it will only accept an 80 gig drive. Has anyone successfully installed a 100 gig drive in a T41P?
Thanks

Yes, there's tons of folks here with 100GB HDs in their Ts.

What they meant to say is that it's only supported with the 80GB HD that's offered.

Thanks James:
I thought that is what they meant, they only support 80 gig.

I am trying to find the 7k100 100 gig, but no luck. I may just go with the 100 gig 5k100 (5400 rpm) model since I need one in the immediate future.
Thanks for the reply!

The 7K100 continues to be vaporware at the present time.

There are none available anywhere AFAIK and any links you find to websites offering them wind up being "out of stock".

Hi James,
I found all links as you indicated: out of stock or back ordered. I think I will order the 100 gig 5400 version for now. Then, when the other becomes available I will get that one and use the 5400 as an internal backup.

Thanks again,
HW

A few days ago just (finally) saw the Seagate's 5K100 here in Hong Kong, 10 mths after it was announced.

Have yet to see an actual Hitachi Travelstar 5K100 here in Hong Kong.

Now for the 7K100's ...

(By the way, did you see Seagate's announced that their 7K160 with perpendicular recording "should" come out 1st half of 2006 ?)
