#1 Post by ziloo » Thu Apr 21, 2022 1:34 pm

Hello Folks,

1- How do I know about the specs of my HDD from the BIOS.
I pulled the HDD out of the T42, and then I inserted it in
back again and now the HDD is not recognized!!!

2- I have several HDD for myT42 and how can I find out
which one is faulty and which one is functional?

Those IDE connectors on old laptops are tricky. There is a chance that you inserted it upside down or not all the way in, so it is not making contact and therefore not recognized.

In T4x/R5x the hard drives go in label-to-the-table = upside-down.
Even today you can still buy the best 2.5" PATA/IDE HDD ever: 160GB 5400rpm Samsung HM160HC.
