T43 + Intel 2915ABG = Low speeds
Everyone on DSL Reports/etc forums says "Their connection goes to 1 MBP/s and drops" or "Stays low untill they use it"
I have the exact oppsite on my 2687DDU
If I idle, I get 54mpb/s (No internet usage)
As soon as I sign onto msnm, or even launch mozilla, mouse over Acess Connections, hello 24 mpb/s (And its VERY slow, 24MBP/s feels worse than wireless B!)
As well as I never can get my "IP configured" unless I'm 3 meters away from my router... Any farther and I won't be able to connect to my router (At 96% signal), or authenicate my WPA key.....
Anyone having simlar problems? I've went through IBM and Linksys support (WRT54G)
Neither has helped

Have you tried configuring the IBM Access Connections in your system tray? If you go to that, then click on Modify WLAN Settings, if you look at the bottom of your wireless settings, you will see that by default it comes with a setting of medium, which conserves more battery life at the expense of wireless performance. Click on edit Wireless LAN settings, then Advanced wireless settings, and change the power save settings to Low.

Already tried turning it to low, medium, and high.
Again my TP will only connect to my wireless router if its within 2-3 meters.
Anything farther it has problems like
A:Connection to router (Inablity)
B:Authenication problems (Or if not in WPA/WEP, it does A)
C:IP cannot be configured (This is ASSURED, impossible to get wireless unless I go to my router, configure, unplug, move downstairs, replug.)

I have a slightly different problem than yours. My T43 with 2200bg connects to my WRT54GS @ 54mb/s, 90+ signal strength and I can't seem to stay connected. I have changed every setting, updated/rolled back drivers/AC updated the Linksys firmware, etc. It normally takes a reboot and router reset to get the connection back, on the other hand, the ancient DLink pcmcia "b" card I have, never drops connection.
I just got my dock area setup & have a Microsoft Wireless Desktop (RF keyboard & mouse), and with the 2915 set on the lowest power & transmit settings, it also jumps down to 24-36Mbps and rarely goes back up to 54.
With the wireless desktop USB transmitter unplugged & keyboard/mouse removed from my docking area, my connection stays PEGGED at 54Mbps; even when set on the lowest power settings.
I'm using 2 D-Link DWL-2100AP's in my house. They're based around the AR5002 chipset from Atheros. These AP's work extremely well & I've yet to have a problem with them.
To reiterate, my connection speed only drops down when:
1) I reduce the TX & RX power on the 2915
2) When the RF based Microsoft Wireless Desktop keyboard & mouse set are being used.

Don't know if I have fixed it yet or not, but been working a couple of hours so far. Administrative Tools>Services>Wireless Zero Configuration>Startup type: change to manual, then stop and apply. I'm using AC and there may have been a conflict. I think WZC is set to default to automatic. Good luck to us all.
I have a T-42 with the 2200 bg. I, like DoS, have WZCS set to manual. My connection to my SMC 'g' router works just fine. The only thing I have probably done different, is I set my TCP/IP settings manually. I've posted the details before, so I won't go into it here.DoS wrote:Don't know if I have fixed it yet or not, but been working a couple of hours so far. I use the latest IBM/Lenovo drivers v9, and the latest Access Connections v3.71.

If you're still having trouble, try the latest linksys firmware which says it's supposed to help the issue, and also get the latest drivers from intel's site. They have two versions of the v9 drivers, 9.0.1 and 9.0.2. Get the latter as many people on the notebook forums with dells and other laptops have claimed this driver has helped them immensely.
If neither of the other two work, then save yourself any further trouble and just get the IBM Atheros a/b/g card.

Gaz, the problem is that it "scans" everything fine (Maybe it sometimes misses one or two things, but still). Now generally when its "far" away it won't connect to "my" router, but does "fine" with other peoples (50/50, it depends if they have Mac filtering etc, that adds a new level)
Problem:1 screw won't budge, the other won't come out (But is loose) for my keyboard...

Problem - Unablity to open TP up... Annnnd IBM doesn't want me to send my laptop to them, they point at Linksys, who then says "we'll fix this on our next router version" (Uuuummmm I'm not buying another router from them!)
Also, is it normal for networks to disappear every often if they have 50%ish signal or loose wire?
