Good morning,
I was given a T42 which I've spent far too much time/money on cleaning up. Knowing who this came from, I can almost certainly say they did not install Windows 98 on it -- which makes me believe it came (from the factory) with Windows 98 pre-installed.
Sure enough, by the time I got around to getting to it in an attempt to clone the drive to hopefully restore to an SSD + utilize R&R -- the drive won't spin -- it's completely dead.
Does anyone know if the T42 did ship with Windows 98? And, if there are R&R images for it (with 98)?
Thank-you!

T42 - Windows 98 Restore Media?
Re: T42 - Windows 98 Restore Media?
Welcome to the forum!
To the best of my knowledge and experience which is not insignificant when it comes to T4x series, none of them ever shipped with W98 from the factory in any shape or form.

Good to see you George. I hope all is well!
T42 was released in May of 2004, almost 2 full years after Windows 98's end-of-sale. According to IBM PSREF documentation, the last models with a Windows 98 SE Preload option were the A30, T23, and X21. Subsequent models only offered Windows 2000 or XP.
