My T42 wont power on

#1 Post by srhouyu » Wed Jul 05, 2023 10:36 pm

Hello. I have a T42 laptop, model 2373, which is refusing to power on.

With the battery inserted and the laptop connected to DC power, the orange battery light is on. However, as soon as I hit the power button, this light goes off and the laptop remains unresponsive.

If the device operates without a battery and solely on DC power, there are no lights indicating activity and the laptop continues to stay inactive.

I'd appreciate it if you could provide me with some guidance on this issue.

Update #1:
It's a bit silly. I found out that it was because the battery had been too low. All I needed to do was to let the battery charge for a while. Then, I could turn the computer on.

Did it turn on? If not, try removing the hdd or clean the rams or replace them.

Yes, the laptop is currently operational. However, a new issue has arisen. Once the laptop is switched off, it refuses to power back on, unless I disconnect and reconnect the battery.

Could it be the battery connector is corroded/dirty? Try wiping it with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol, then let it dry for a little bit before plugging the battery back in.
