My T43p fan could hardly move and was very noisy when it did. After a long cleaning and a bit of oil it now operates and sounds healthy - no guessing how long that will last, but hey - it works for now
Have given the CPU some new thermal paste, and I also want to replace the old GPU thermal pad on it.
After googling for a while I have been unable to find out exactly what thickness I'll need.
Have been looking at Arctic TP-3 1.5mm - would this be the correct thickness for a T43p?

Re: T43p thermal pad replacement
You should use a Caliber and measure the thickness of the pad. I guess that if you don't have one a ruler should be enough, as those things are standard.

Re: T43p thermal pad replacement
AFAIK both 1mm and 1.5mm pads work fine.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
Re: T43p thermal pad replacement
Yeah I guess it wass time to pull the bandaid and have a proper look.
The outside of the pad was covered in black goo and hard to measure whike installed, so I decided to pull off the pad entirely.
And it was not what I was extecting - like RBS suggests the whole thing it's somewhere around 1mm (don't have calipers for more precision), but the black goo that was on it was hiding a nice thick copper block and the actual thermal pad is very thin - thicker than a couple of sheets of paper but not by much.
I have cleaned the copper and am going to try to attach the cooler directly to the GPU IHS with some Artic MX-4 between and see where that gets me - if too hot I'll have to buy a very thin pad instead
Thanks for the help guys.
