Only 3 T43s on the Lenovo site now?

#1 Post by Vesper » Sun Jul 24, 2005 3:55 pm

What's going on with the Lenovo website? Only 3 T43 models are showing up under "View All Models" of T series notebooks. Just 3 days ago, there were a ton. Do they temporarily delist them when they are out of stock or something?

I've been planning on ordering a T43, but between the long shipping delays and questionable website ordering, I'm thinking about looking to another brand.

I don't understand your logic. You complaint about " long shipping delays" and yet you haven't placed any order how does that help you to get the TP faster?

"questionable website ordering"? What was that all about?

Long shipping delays refers to the many posts I see about people waiting for 10-12 weeks for a laptop. Questionable website refers to this very issue: models disappearing off the web. I've also had configuration issues. (For example, when trying to configure a 2687DVU, it tells me it includes no wireless when in fact it does.) I haven't been very impressed by the Lenovo ordering/configuring experience so far. The hardware may be great, but the ordering has been less than satisfactory.

I can confirm that while browsing the site some of the T43(p) models have gone MIA.

For the last 48 hours I can only see a select number of notebooks whereas previously there were almost twice as many listed.
Current Laptop:
T43p 2.26 GHz - 2668Q2U
2GB - 100GB 7200 RPM
15" UXGA FireGL V3200

Returned Laptop:
T43p 2.13 GHz - 2668H3U
1.5GB - 60GB 7200 RPM
15" UXGA FireGL V3200

My Backup Laptop:
T30 2 GHz - 2366XBX
Heat Prob - Dead RAM Slot

I too felt uncomfortable with their web based ordering process, so I placed my order over the phone. 30 days after ordering, I checked the Master card discount page and saw that they had my 75U for significantly less than I had paid when I placed the order. I called my rep back and they credited me the difference. Moral of the story, Call-- it's much less confusing. After you get the machine wait til your 30 days are almost up, scour their site and see if they have a web price better than what you paid over the phone.

If you think ordering process is bad, wait until you try to check the status of your order! I too have noticed that Lenovo has only a few models on hand, most say 10 or 15 day availability. I think this may be partially because of the delay in shipments of chip sets and certain hard drives. The combo I ordered said availability within 10 days, well it's been a month now and it still hasn't shipped. I have had very mixed experiences calling Lenovo. The first time I called I got a lot of wrong information, so after doing some more research I placed my order online. When I called the 1-866-42-THINK number after my order went to backordered I got a hold of a rep that was absolutely no help. After that experience, I tried calling the rep referenced on my order about a dozen times, left voicemails and never could get him on the phone (ended up e mailing and got a response). My last experience was pretty good though; I called last week and was on hold for 30 minutes. I was ready to give the rep hell when they finally picked up but the guy was very friendly and helpful. Moral of the story is the knowledge of the reps you get over the phone will vary greatly, so keep you fingers crossed when you call.

Just find the model you want in tabook. Then call. It's that easy.
