T42 Being Packed !

I ordered a T42 last Friday ; the shipping date kept changing over the weekend, and the status said pending credit card verification. Today Monday the credit card fraud dept. called to verify that I had placed the order. Shortly after that, the order said something like processing, and now it says "being packed". The shipping date is Aug. 3 for the Thinkpad and Aug. 2 for the peripherals I ordered.

From your experience, what exactly does "being packed" mean ? Is it actually available now ; or can I expect to wait until Aug. 3.

Where does it ship from? China? Does that mean Taiwan? I ordered "regular" (free) shipping -- I'm sure it comes AIR from overseas; I hope they don't then truck it cross country. Thanks!

just bought my t43 and they said ship date august 15th. that means it leaves china/tiwan august 15th, and will take 3-5 business days to get to my doorstep.

i know that because i called and asked.

expect to see it anywhere from august 6th-8th

Don't get your hopes too high. It may stick to packing for several weeks.

actually, mine went from "packed" to "shipped" in less than 2 days.

i ordered my t43 (2687d3u) on 7/14 and was quoted a 4-week waiting period.

the original estimated shipping date on lenovo's site said 8/4. it then changed to "call."

and this weekend, something really weird happened: the status became "packed," which i was very excited about until i saw the estimated shipping date -- which was changed from "call" to 8/23. i was like wtf, one whole month to pack a little laptop?!?!

i was about to call my sales rep this morning, but when i checked the status page again today, i was surprised to find that my t43 has already been shipped!!! the ups tracking info was unavailable initially but was just displayed a few minutes ago informing me that my computer has left hongkong tonight.

so don't rely on what the status page says too much as lenovo seems to use that page to play mind game with everyone. i'm just glad that it looks like i'm going to receive my laptop before my law school starts next month. *spreading good luck to everyone else who's anxiously waiting for his/her thinkpad*

thats good, im quoted at 3 weeks. hope mine ships in under 2 then!

ya I have been in a "within 2 weeks" status since I ordered mine that was on the 11th when I called last thursday they told me not to expect it till the middle of august.

I have since started seeing if I can pick one up else were but most places are out and telling me the same thing as lenovo.

I ordered a T43 266875U around 4pm Thursday afternoon (7/21). I was then quoted a 4 week ship date. Over the weekend, the estimated ship date increased by 3 days. I checked again late Sunday night and the package was shipped (?). On Monday, tracking info was available from UPS and I noticed it had left Hong Kong early yesterday morning. So, mosquito, we're in the same boat as far as when we might get our notebooks. Now I'm scrambling to find a bag that will hold all my books and binders in addition to the laptop because it will likely be here by Thursday. That's a seven day turn around from ordering to delivery! Much better than the month I was quoted.
