problems with the T43 screen

#1 Post by anamaria2 » Tue Jul 26, 2005 6:18 pm

I have a new T43.
Each time i turn it on and off , in the upper left corner of the screen I can see a part of a circle, of a color lighter than the blue screen.

This happenes only in the welcome&goodby screen. Any other screen looks normal.
Does anyone have this problem?

I tried to find on the forum a similar problem, but i couldn't .

Thanks

Thank so so much for your answer. I was on the verge of sending this back! i have to admit i am a bit paranoid about this computer.

Is this really true? How come I couldn't see it on the computer I have at work?
And also , I called ibm/levono and they seem not to be aware of this. They think it is something wrong w/ the graphics card.

I can confirm that it's normal. Just don't be so paranoid! Everything's fine! :) :P

No, this isn't normal at all. I'm an authorised IBM tech, send it to me and I'll have a look at it for you

Yes, on my T42 I have the same concentric circles that you are talking about. I believe the reason you don't see it on your desktop, is probably because it has a CRT (cathode ray tube - or picture tube) monitor. If you look closely at your desktop display, you will probably notice that the color is lighter up in the corner, but you won't see any banding. CRT's blend colors much better than LCD's do. This is especially true if you are not running the LCD at native resolution and full color depth - which I believe is the case at the Windows log-on screen.

Perhaps if you turn it up to 32-bit color depth, the circles won't look as jagged.
