NuShield = teh l0s3

#1 Post by JLai » Wed Jul 27, 2005 12:57 am

Just installed and UNINSTALLED my NuShield +/- 4 times. :?

Let me just start out by saying whoever cut the NuShield is a tard. The cutting is so uneven. On top of that, one side of the NuShield left a small gap and didn't cover the entire LCD from top to bottom. It was also a pain in the butt to try and get every single last hair off the screen. On the second install, the NuShield stuck some hair on the "sticky" **I say this with great sarcasm as this thing is not sticky at all...it slides all over the place** and I was unable to get it off via compressed air. To which i tried wiping it off only to leave a mark. :roll:

They also leave no added room to tape the thing onto the LCD. Its sooo easy to have the tape showing after the bezel is installed...but after carefully positioning it over and over I got that fixed. The NuShield also did no noticable contrast enhancement as advertised.

I dunno...maybe I'm just picky or a perfectionist. But I didn't feel like it did anything but add a reflection against light. Which is why I'm returning it. I have no doubt it "protects" the screen...but thats not why I bought the thing. I thought it could somewhat enhance the screen to look refined like the Sony LCDs. NOPE. Waste of money.

Anyways...Just letting the forum know my opinion of the NuShield mod. More hassle than anything else. :x

After I ended up taking the bezel on and off so many times...I ended up bending the side sticky tabs that cover the screws. Anyone know where I can buy some replacements? :?:

I was actually just thinking of getting this for my laptop. I remember reading a thread here with a successful install of NuShield.

I read that too...Thats why I got it. I dunno, it just wasn't for me. I wish I took some pictures of how poorly cut this thing was before I took it off. Literally, it could not cover the whole lcd on one side and you could see it even with the bezel installed. Maybe you'll have better luck than I. Just don't get ANY hair on the NuShield's "sticky" side. I got one stuck and I just couldn't stand it.

Thx Jlai. I was worried about applying anything with an adhesive to my screen. One of our compatriots is bravely trying out the photodon. Can't wait to see that review.
