connection with T23

Hello I just got a IBM thinkpad T23 (running windows 2000) with a wireless card built in and I have a linksys BEFW11S4 V4 wireless router. I am a mac guy so this windows thing is not my forte. I have no idea how to set up this computer to work with my router/get onto my wireless network i already have up. Any help would be very much appreciated. thank you very much

If you see the network card in the system tray click it. It should see the wireless network. Click on the network, I think it asks whether or not to make a permanent connection. If you don't see card or x underneath card, make sure driver is installed. I don't know if you have an intel card, but I have founnd the drivers from intel work better. Good Luck.

system tray? is that the lower right hand corner? if it is i see it there but when i click it it does not show me any networks but it says its connected even though i can not get online. I spent about 5 hours trying to figure this out last night and its just a complete mystery to me. Anything else i can try? Also how can i see what kind of card i have built into my computer, like where do I go to find out? Thanks.

alright so i went ahead and installed windows xp professional. Before i could not connect to anything even when i pluged in an ethernet cable but now i can plug in a cable and it works but what happens with the wireless card is in the lower right there is a icon that is PRISM Wireless Status from which i can turn the card on and off. I have had no luck getting this app to work for getting on my network. Now when i go to network connections it says Wireless connection unavailable IBM High Rate Wireless LAN Mico. When i turn the card on from the thing in the lower right the wireless connection in network connections says Enabled for about 5 seconds and then once the [censored] thing in the lower right gets "linkd" the other thing goes back to being unavailable. Any ideas about what might be going on here now? thanks again.
