T43 2687DDU on 1400x1050/Highest detail, no AA/AF Edit - Stock driver as well
5043 3dmarks

Ouch, that hurts.

Custom self built high end gaming desktop (Sapphire X800 Pro overclocked, Athlon +3200 939, ASUS A8V Deluxe, Crucial Ballistix high end DDR modules, 512x2mb (1024MB), etc)
21806 3dmarks

Good however that that T41p can compare up to that level.

Also - Why does that FireGL have 256MB of ram?

How'd you wind up with a 1.6GHz processor and a 5400RPM in your GGU?

Mine has a 1.7GHz CPU and a 7K60!

What makes it even close to a GGU? I don't understand.

What did the board come out of?

well theres no 4gu with this sys board and aside from having a 1.6 instead of the 1.7 I'd say its the closest thing to it.

But you only have an XGA display and a 5400RPM HD, so I don't understand why you're comparing it to a T41p.

What machine did the system board come from?

its a new board.
it is the replacement board for t41p/t42p or r50 I believe.
IBM FRU # 27R1848
I may sell this lcd and upgrade to sxga havent decided yet.
as far as the drive goes...I've yet to see anyone post a hd bench mark with a 7200 rpm drive so I'm not really sold that they are faster than this drive anyway.
not to mention this drive doesn't consume the power the 7200 drives do.
Its consumes just a bit more than some of the 4200 rpm drives.

Just did a quick Sandra HD test, 29MB/s, but I've got a ton of apps open and Mailwasher checked for email at least twice.

The same thing applies to the 7K60, besides the fact that as it's transferring data faster, it would actually use LESS battery power overall.

cool, thanks for the comparison.
and yeah, you may be right...
I guess I'm happy considering this is a 70$ ebay drive. The 16mb cache comes in handy when encoding etc...

well 11.2k done with FGT2, not bad...

#15 Post by thinkpadz » Sun Jul 31, 2005 9:37 pm

Looks like the IBM FGT2 Drivers are the way to go for apps/bench/cad/games...

11,254 3dmarks! from a t41p!

here's 3DMark01 score with T41P PM 1.6 1.2vcore/1gb ram/FireGL T2 385/265 /60gb hd/xp-sp2 everyday speeds(no pixel/texture tearing)

http://img36.imageshack.us/my.php?image=edph9wz.jpg

I'm using the latest IBM drivers found here:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-41918

I'm also having sucess running Q3, Doom3, HL2 etc without a hitch with these drivers...

They not only perform better for me than the omega and dna series but they do it all, cad, games, bench etc..

the other two were flakey at best with games...

btw....that bench was run from battery power, using the performance profile.
