Finally, I got my first T42! Now what sleeve is good?
Finally, I got my first T42! Now what sleeve is good?
I just bought my very first IBM T42 laptop from an IT guy at work. He got it as a gift from one of our manager, and didn't need it. So, words was around the building and I got ahold and bought it off him. Laptop model is
2373-6zu, and it comes with:
1.7ghz
512 ram
40gb
ati 7500
14.1"
cdrw/dvd
Wireless card with bluetooth
and 3 year warranty with thinkplus.
Anyone know the link to see the full detail of your system using model number? Also, what's cover in thinkplus and any good sleeve to buy?
I'm a college student, and will commute via train with it.
Thanks and so far, I love this laptop! Now, the hard part is getting rid of this 3 weeks old Dell Inspiron 6000.

Congratulation and sounds like a super deal. You can afford a REALLY nice sleeve for that baby.
Click HERE for a long discussion on sleeve favorites. I found this using the Search feature. There are a lot more threads on the topic. Just click the "Search" button at the top of this page. Put "sleeve" in the keyword box and select the "T-series" forum. Happy reading!
This one got my vote. They are made for Apple products, but should work with the 14.1" Thinkpad. I checked with the company, and measurements for the 14.1" iBook version are 32.3cm x 25.9cm x 3.42cm. It ships from Australia, so I haven't got my hands on it yet. But at 7.95, the shipping seemed reasonable. Plus they take PayPal.
This is my first IBM product too, and I have learned a lot from the users on this board. Happy reading and enjoy your new toy....

I've got the Waterfield case, its very awsome, I am completely satisfied. I think I ended up with the #11 (thats the one for the t42) and I went with the flap, the strap, and the piggyback which are all high quality and nice to look at too.

I have the Waterfield sleeve in size #13 (apparently a new size for the T42/T43 that they haven't put out on their site yet)? Anyway, I haven't gotten my laptop so no chance to actually gauge its fit. A friend of mine that has a 2378FVU has one and he says it fits quite nicely and tightly for that matter. The build construction looks great. Get the flap. Just slightly on the expensive side overall, but great customer support.
