Disabling mouse wake up

#1 Post by dansu » Mon Aug 01, 2005 11:41 pm

Is there a way to disable the mouse from waking the laptop when I turn the screen off with fn+f3? I have a usb mouse connected and the slightest nudge will turn my screen back on.

Unplug the mouse? I don't really see another way.

Turning the mouse upside down is something I do sometimes. Not waking with the mouse is perhaps possible (almost anything is on a computer with some trouble), but it is not simply an option that is able to be toggled. It may not even be possible since the wake criteria might simply be tied to cursor motion, where moving the mouse may simply not be a logical option. Even if it could allow cursor movement without waking, the system could then shut the screen off even if you were actively using the mouse and would require keyboard input to wake. I am not sure if this would involve some simple hack or something much more involved since I am not familiar with how the wake function operates, but I bet it would probably require quite a bit of work to figure out, more than the inconvenience.

Good point, I didn't even think about that.
