Use 'New' IBM Graphics Drivers w/ DVI on a T41?

I have the TP 41 w/ ATI Mobility Radeon graphics card, 32 MB. I want to buy the Dell 1920x1200 external LCD and need to drive DVI. But in the past, I’ve never been able to get modded drivers such as Omega to run DVI on my machine.

Others on this forum indicate that IBM’s own new drivers (November 2004?) will support DVI at high resolutions. Will these new IBM drivers work on my TP41, or are they only meant for T43s? And if IBM’s new drivers will work on the TP 41, where can I find them? (Thinkpad support page for my TP41 doesn’t seem to have them)

Which radeon are we talking, the 7500?? you could try using the catalyst drivers modded with patje's mobility mod which you can find at http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/ I have had good luck with these mods in the past however the new catalyst (5.7) don't seem to agree with my comp. using 5.6 (ati control center version, not CCC version) and the patje mod works wonders.

My t41 has the Radeon 9000. I've used catalyst drivers modded with patje's mobility mod, as well as other unofficial fixes, and even after spending extraordinary amounts of time on this, was unable to make any of the packages drive DVI at higher resolutions w/ my TP.

I'm not a techie, and I've hit the wall trying to fiddle w/ mods -- that's why I'm curious whether the new IBM drivers will work on my t-41.

Which dock are you using that has a DVI output on it?

I'm using the Thinkpad Port Replicator II which has DVI out.
