Buying a T-series TODAY- need some help please

Yes, you can, but it might be easier if you have the part number. I'm sure someone here can help you with that.

Yes, they can, but it will cost you a lot more. I don't know how much. You will have to call and ask.

Better range and more consistent connection. It supposedly uses a little more power than the Intel solution. I have the IBM a/b/g II wifi card and it is solid. I don't have any experience with the Intel BG card.

You can increase the font size in Windows by adjusting the DPI setting. I set my DPI setting to 120 and it works well for me.

Yes, I understand that works for the desktop and dialog boxes. But I thought I read somewhere that certain web sites, or certain documents set their own size fonts, in which case changing the DPI in Windows would have no effect.

I was tempted by the SGXA display, and I wish I could have checked one out before I bought. But for me, readability was more important than beauty. I may have made a mistake, but until I actually view an SGXA display for myself, I really won't know for sure.

Yes, that is true. I use Firefox for web browsing and increase the font size with ctrl+ for those problem pages. So far, I haven't had any problems with most of the apps that I'm using, mostly MS Office and photo editing software. The higher resolution definitely helps with digital photos.

I had some problems before with fill-in boxes not being sized correctly in TaxCut, but no problems with TurboTax.

Folks, if we need to increase font size on a SXGA+ display and magnify stuff on firefox, whats the point in buying it? Of course, people like watching photos in high res can pounce on me! Other than that, whats the advantange over teh humble XGA?

I compared a T42 XGA on a 2379R1U with a Hydis SXGA+ from 2373M3U and the XGA was brighter than the SXGA+ for sure. The clarity was also a little better if the screen was kept 1.5ft away from the eyes.

Any comments?

The font size is not increased to the the same level as XGA, so I am still getting increased screen real estate. The pixels are smaller with the SXGA+ screen, so text is smoother and crisper (you can use more pixels to create the same letter).

Was the 2373M3U in native resolution when you compared the clarity?

I used both the screens in their native resolutions. I studied the screens for 1 hr very closely. I even rinsed my eyes to get rid of fatigue .... just in case.

On the SXGA+. the screen was less bright, the fonts look smaller and a little fuzzier, the color saturation is worse (a little faded). The XGA uses a cheaper card (7500) and I am experienced with decent cards and monitors (eg 20" LCD from Dell).

I think either I should get my eyes checked or the new XGA panels are much better. I guess I have to run for cover saying such things on this forum
