T41 Memory Issue

I have a T41 2378DHu
I just installed a 512mb ram module on the underside of the laptop.
The system says it now has 768mb ram at 251mhz .. is this right?

I had gotten this module from a friend who spec'd it for the TP.

How do I know if this is correct. Everything seems to work fine.

Can I use the same ram module in a T41 and T42?

I am on Crucial.com and it is giving me different part #'s for each of the TPs, but the specs are the same.

So is there any difference between the T41 and T42 ram bays?

I think the reason the speed is now 251mhz.. maybe cause the new chip I put in is slower? Shouldn't the speed be 333mhz?

Also is Dual Channel available on the T41 and T42?

1. There's no dual channel on the T41 as far as I know, definitely not on T42.

2. Crucial.com gives you different part numbers depending on the machine you specify. You can also give the generic criteria for your RAM and you'll get yet another part number -- and a lower price! The difference is that they'll only guarantee compatibility if you go through the system selector.

Also, don't forget that you can usually get Crucial RAM for less from http://www.newegg.com and elsewhere.
